Makin' Groceries
In New Orleans, we don't buy groceries, we make groceries. Commonly, locals "make" groceries rather than buy them. This is a throwback from the original French-speaking Creoles who used the verb "faire," which means "to make" or "to do." It has become a quirk in New Orleans vocabulary.
