About Us

Fleurty Girl® is a New Orleans-inspired line of t-shirts, accessories and other locally made goods under the creative vision of NOLA-native, Lauren Thom.

Lauren launched the original Fleurty Girl line in May 2009 using the money from her income tax return. Her original t-shirt line was just four different designs. "I could've taken that money and gone on a summer vacation with my kids or paid our mortgage ahead, but I believed in this."

Lauren didn't know if the shirts she'd made would ever sell, but she put the concept out there to see what would happen. Within a month, she had sold completely out of every shirt she had in stock and had a backorder of over 100 shirts. "I couldn't believe how fast it happened. I still remember all the outgoing packages piled up on my kitchen table. I'll never forget that."

In November 2009, just six short months after launching her t-shirt line, Lauren opened up the very first Fleurty Girl retail store on historic Oak Street in Uptown New Orleans. She found an old shotgun house and converted the front into a store and moved into the back and called it home. "I told myself I'd give it six months. If it didn't work, we'd close the shop and use the whole house as our home."

Six months later, instead of closing her first retail store, Lauren opened up her second Fleurty Girl® shop on Magazine Street. "I remember the day we signed that lease. I had knots in my stomach. I felt at any moment I was going to wake up and this was all going to be a dream. It seemed like yesterday I was running the company out of my kitchen and now here we are operating out of two retail shops in New Orleans."

Today, Lauren lives in Uptown New Orleans with her three kids, eight-year-old son and five-year-old twins. "Not a day goes by that I don't think about how glad I am that I went for my dream. I love New Orleans and I love wearing and accessorizing myself with little details of this wonderful city."
